Carlos and his Scout Cake

The finished cake. We decided to not have all the detail just outline the cake. Can you see the emblem? It was a carrot cake with banana cream cheese frosting. Yummy to some and not so yummy for others. But Carlos loved what he had made and Carson enjoyed eating most of this cake, as he loves carrot cake *mostly because of the frosting).

Carlos and the almost done Cake. This was his idea and it was funny because my mom had the exact same idea in mind.

This past week Carlos had the Blue and Gold Banquet at scouts. He has had a blast in scouts and we are having a great time with this new ward. They are all about the fun for the boys and learning the importance of the scouting program. I am grateful to all his leaders and the time and effort they put into teaching and caring for these boys. He looks forward to going every week and wants to be a great scouter like his brother, Carson.

Carson's basketball game

Carson warming up before a game. They are parcting drills. I love this picture because he is getting air. The boys on his team are surprised just how high carson can jump.

Carson catching a pass. His team forgets that he is only 4 foot 8 inches. Yes, Carson is almost as tall as his sister now. We are so excited. He has had a small growth spurt and we are hoping it doesn't stop. He hasn't hit puberty yet but that has to be right around the corner.

Carson and a fast break. Trying to set up a play.

I love this picture because it looks like the ball is rolling but really Carson id bouncing it down the court. He has been told by many that he has exceptional ball handling control. Most boys are growing so fast that they are a bit clumsy. But not Carson, growing slow and steady.

Carson trying to draw a foul and shooting in the mean time. I love the air this kid can get. He must of inherited it from his Aunt Debi, or Uncle Ruben, these two could jump.

Carson playing a zone defence and doing a great job.

Carson is point guard for his basketball team. He is having fun playing this year and enjoys the team. Most of the team are close friends of his and they are very good boys. Most of the boys are in my mom and dads area and I know most of the parents, as they are my age. Funny how life always makes a complete circle. One concern of Carson's is: All his buddies are going to go to Pocatello High school and we live in the Highland High school boundaries. I would rather him go to school with good friends because aren't good friend what helps keep us all strong and on track.

CARLOS'S PINEWOOD DERBY

Carlos, pinewood derby car and trophy. This blog is backwards but you get to see the smiles and the races. They all came with a smile and they all left with a smile (except for one the grand champion was playing with his car after the race and dropped his car and it broke in half. It was really sad after all the time he spent working, or his dad spent working on the car to have it break. It was after all the races were done though. That is a bonus).

The whole group of proud scouts. As you can see all scouts earned a trophy. This was the best pinewood derby I have ever attended and I have been to 5 with Carson. They had a race where the slowest car won a 1st place trophy. It was backwards but the funnest race of them all. All the boys thought this was the funnest race too. Everyone races everyone and it was a joy to see everyone happy and no one crying because their car wasn't fast.

Carlos with his trophy. He was pretty excited to get his 3rd place trophy that he earned by himself.

Carlos receiving his 3rd place trophy.

Carlos's car driving down the track. His is the black and gold car on the right side.

Carlos watching Bro. Merrill take cars off the track.

Carlos setting his car on the track. He had a great time and this was a positive Pinewood derby!
