Halloween Fun

Carson got sick and wanted to be a part of the carving but didn't have enough energy to carve. He designed the face and let his dad carve the pumpkin. He stayed home from school. He, I think, is having a let down day from being so busy and soccer season coming to an end.

Carlos trying to pull his cap off. It was super thick. He is such a silly kid.

I am going through the goo to get seeds. Juan wants to try to make pumpkin seeds. We are also saving these seed because these pumpkins were so huge.

Carlos showing us how thick this pumpkin was. He was having a hard time getting it cut and pulling the opening off. No wonder. Who knew they were so thick?

Carlos posing with his Jack-o-lantern. He had so much fun. It truly is the kids who make holidays so much fun and exciting.

Carson so excited to get a picture taken. He is sick but he wanted to be apart of the carving.

Our finished products. Michaela made the baseball, Carson made the one with the slanted eyes (he was actually sick so he designed the face and Juan carved it)and Carlos made the one with they two different shapes eyes. I've been really bad this year with decorations. I'm too busy with all my other activities and studies. Carlos has been bumped about it so we at least carved pumpkins.

Flag Football comes to an end.

Carlos this year decided to play Flag football and he had a great team and they sure learned a ton. He loved playing and scoring touchdowns. I don't know how many touchdowns he made this season but he was a fast little runner. Grandma loved watching his little legs fly to the end zone.

Carlos all bundled up for his game. He is always ready to go in and play.

Carlos Ready for a hand off or blocking for the quarterback.

Carlos running a touchdown. Once he is out of reach of any player he is like a rocket. Running to the end zone. No one can catch him.

Carlos running so fast and making a touchdown. This was his second touchdown of this game.

Carlos getting ready and watching to make sure that his quarterback is protected and gets the throw off. He was a real helper in protecting Carson, the quarterback. They made a great team.

Carlos and Carson making a two point conversion. They got very good at this play. In all Carlos is looking forward to next season and wants to play soccer too. He misses it so next season he will play Competitive soccer like his brother in a division one up from his own age with our neighbor. The fun and learning that occurs during a team sport is great for these kids.

Gem State Tournament

Last weekend we all piled in the car and made a trip to Boise for the Gem State Tournament for Carson's soccer team. They were all so pumped and excited to play. They knew they would have to play hard and that only one team would give them a challenge, Boise Nationals. This team is the team that Rowan moved to when he moved to Boise (Carson Coaches son). We played them for a exchange game and lost 0-5. I must say they played extremely well and didn't lose one game but they were out scored by Boise United in points so they weren't able to play in the Championship game but they took 3rd. Mighty proud (out of 8 teams)

Carson and his team watching as the game gets started.

Booklyn likes Juan and they play together at most soccer games. She thought his beard was ticklish and fun to rub. Cute and silly.

Carson being the gentleman he is and handling the ball over to the opponent.

Carlos did not play soccer this season . He played football and played with a few boys in Boise.

Carlos waving at his mother and enjoying the warm temperature in Boise. Finally we had great weather for these tournaments. Yah!!

Carson cleaning off the sweat. It was hot if you can imagine that in Boise on October 22.

Carson being aggressive and going for a header.

Carson just kicking the ball and working hard. Boy how much flexibility has to come into play.

Michaela being a great babysitter for Brooklyn and Nate (Twins siblings of one of the boys on the soccer team).

Carson hustling to help with the ball.

A great shot of Carson fouling the opponent. He got called for many fouls this game but it only helped our team. They remained strong and won 3-0.

Carson kicking the ball and gaining control for his team.

I love the facial expressions on his face. They are so intense and focused.

Just after a header. I worry about headers but Carson says if you hit them just right it doesn't hurt.

The aggressive player, Carson. He is doing so well in soccer. He has grown so much and it's a joy to watch and cheer him on. Good Job Pocatello United and Carson Figueroa for some great games in Boise. The overall standing for the year was 16-2 (they lost an exchange game to a U-14 Utah team and to Boise United a U-13 team too)

Boise Exchange Games

Carson enjoying his time on the bench. Remember, soccer has no time outs. If a player gets hurt then there is a short time out but you don't get to talk much to the coach for advice during the game. A soccer team has to be on the same page to work together and get themselves back in the game. A thinkers game.

Carson hustling to get back for a foal kick.

Carson and Sammy laughing about who knows what. It was a great picture and they are having fun.

An angle picture taken by Michaela. Some times games get boring and you think of ways to make the time pass by. A great shot of Carson though.

Carson and his great feet getting to the ball. He really likes soccer and enjoys playing and traveling. I must say, he is ready for a break though.

Carson just in a running move. He is growing and his feet are not a size 4.5. We are so excited that he is growing and that Carlos is just that much behind. They won all their games this season except for a team from Utah that was a year older and one team from Boise, Boise Nationals, Rowans team (a previous player that moved to Boise from Pocatello). We hope to have a better game next week when we play them in Boise for the Gem State Challenge.

Scout and College Service Hours

Carson and I both needed to get some service hours in for scouts and a college class I am taking. We decided to help at the Ellis Carnival and run a booth. We volunteered for 2 1/2 hours and Carson had a blast. Of course, I let him go have some fun too and he enjoyed being the "grown up" at the event.
Carson handing out pop (soda) to children who won them from the ring toss.

Carson collecting the rings after someone had thrown them at ring toss.

Carson watching as a child throws his rings to try to win a drink. If you rang more than one drink you got to chose which drink you wanted and if you didn't ring any you won a candy. It was a fun evening and worth our volunteer hours.

SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR MICHAELA

One of Michaela's friends called me and asked if she could have a surprise birthday party for Michaela. We hadn't had a birthday party for Michaela yet because she was so busy with softball and her grandma and dad we gone the same weekend (when her actual birthday took place). Little did we know we wouldn't be much involved with the party. We miss our little girl but she had a fun surprise and a fun birthday party with her friends.

I did take the however important photo of her with her cakes and they were made by her grandma and Julie Garcia(the girl who throw the party).

Michaela and Carlos after she was surprised and we dropped off the pizza. She had a blast and was excited to have another get together with friends.

Some of the kids at the party. More showed up later but I wasn't there to get any pictures of them. A fun group of kids though. I don't know all there names but I do know some of them and they are a neat bunch of teenagers.

Canning and More CANNING

Peach Jam

Applesauce

Grape Juice (White and purple)

Peaches with a few left over grapes juice jars.

Last year, I did a lot of canning because people Juan knew were giving him fruits and lots of it. I didn't mind the canning because I had more time. But now that I am busy working, going to college, and trying to keep my home and children happy, I have no time to even sit down for no reason what so-ever. My peach tree produced over 4 buckets of peaches, Juan picked over 5 walmart bags of grapes at a friend of his and he also went to pick apples at an older couples house he used to mow lawns for. He was busy and I was busy trying to can the fruit so it didn't go to waste. The kids love peaches, the grape juice I made last year so again we canned those. The peaches took forever because we had so many but the grapes were a breeze. The apple sauce took some time too but the reward is in its great fresh, no preservative taste. Love the finished products. Thanks Juan for all you hard work and helping me get it all done. He did most of the hard work for me. Love you!

Jackson Hole Soccer tournament CHAMPS!!!

The Jackson Hole Tournament. A good one but we only played 4 games and the team we played for the championship we ties to first and then came out to win for the championship game. It was a great game and one of our hardest games. The team running to thank the fans and let us see how happy they are as a team.

Carson after one of his scores at the tournament. This is the one of his many expressions.

Carson getting into the game. He is getting more and more aggressive and having fun at it too.

Being good sports and shacking their last opponents hands after one of the tournament games.

The two teams coming out with the refs to be introduced to the fans and explaining of the rules.

Lining up for all to see who is playing for the Championship game.

Almost a score. It was blocked yet we scored right after this. A tight game, the hardest we have had yet.

Carson working hard to get the ball and help the team continue winning.

Carson being proud of a goal.
